Beginning as a typical school boy band, the members of Violet Contours found friendship in school growing up together in York and recognising their love for music in each other. This is all apart from the bands lead guitarist Sam who travelled around the world living in different countries as a child. The impact different culture has had on his music and playing is obvious in his guitar riffs. Sam moved back to York in 2014 and was introduced to the band by close family friend Niall who plays bass.

The band are influenced by artists such as Beatenberg, Little Comets, Paul Simon, Foals, Stone Roses, Bombay Bicycle Club and Tame Impala as well as many others, and this can be heard in their music. It is type to go around and around in your head after taking your first listen. Their exclusive Afro-Pop feel to form their Indie Rock tunes is electric, infectious and energising. They may find inspiration in these bands, but it is safe to say they are their own and unique in this way.

Since releasing their most streamed single, 'Electric Bodies', their first gig back in 2016 has turned into many, playing across the North of England at shows and festivals, taking away with them a substantial following after being noticed by BBC Introducing. This allowed them to support bands much like themselves four years ago before forming as Violet Contours. There is much to be looking forward to for this band with a UK tour currently in talks.

In the meantime, if your round and about the North, snatch your tickets to see them here: https://violetcontours.com/shows
